Loggerhead turtle

Juvenile loggerhead turtle. Immature loggerheads often have sharp keels on their vertebral scutes and posterior marginal scutes. These recede with larger size and age as seen in this adult loggerhead below.

Note: This adult also has a front right flipper missing. It's not uncommon for adults to have partial or total loss of a flipper presumably caused by predation. This would still be a candidate for release.
